Dr Abby Fraser comes from Port Sorell in the North of Tasmania. After graduating from the Conservatorium of Music with a Bachelor of Music with First Class Honours in 2007, Abby gained an Australian Postgraduate Award for PhD candidature commencing in 2008. Under the supervision of Dr Anne-Marie Forbes, Dr Heather Monkhouse and Ms Fiona Perrin, she graduated in 2011. Her thesis, entitled "Interpreting the Flute Works of Jean Françaix (1912-1997)", consisted of a series of recitals and accompanying exegesis. In addition to her postgraduate studies, Abby performed Mozart’s Flute Concerto in G Major with the Conservatorium Orchestra in 2008, and has played flute and piccolo in the Australian International Symphony Orchestra Institute and the Tasmanian Discovery Orchestra and Sinfonietta. In addition to performing, Abby also enjoys working in the Music Library and tutoring in music history at the Conservatorium.
