Students choose 24 units comprising the following:

• 6 x 12.5% units from one of the following Groups: A, B, C or D. This will constitute the specialist stream
• 10 x 12.5% units from any groups other than the specialist stream, with the combination consisting of a selection of units from a minimum of three (3) groups
• 8 x 12.5% elective units: minimum of 4 must be music, chosen from any group (A, B, C, D, E or F). The other 4 units may come from music, or from any school/discipline within the University, subject to approval from the appropriate School.

A possible enrolment could be:

• 6 units from Group B
• 10 x 12.5% music units: 4 units from Group D, 4 units from Group E and 2 units from Group C
• 8 x 12.5% electives: Total of 6 units chosen from Groups A, C and F and 2 units chosen from Journalism offerings

NB: FCP110 Foundation Practical Study,FCP120 Advanced Practical Study, and the four FCE107/202/302/303 Music Project units are 25% units; all other units are weighted at 12.5%.

A full time enrolment in the F3M would require three years of study.

Students wishing to enrol in the FCP Practical Study units listed in Group C are required to pass an audition and interview just prior to the semester in which they would like to be enrolled. The minimum standard of performance is AMEB Grade 5 practical (or equivalent) while composition students are required to submit a portfolio of recent work, (including recordings wherever possible of presented work) prior to the interview.

Students wishing to pursue the musicology stream in BMus (Honours)upon completion of the BMusSt should take the 5 FCH Music History coded units as well as a level 100 language unit (French or German) during the course of their study
