This scholarship was established by friends of the distinguished musician, Professor Jan Sedivka, to recognise his contribution to the education of students in music in Tasmania, Australia, and around the world. It is for postgraduate study in music at the Tasmanian Conservatorium of Music.

Tasmanian Alkaloids grows and processes much of the Tasmanian poppy crop. It has made this bursary available for students who reside in a postcode area in the north or north-west of Tasmania and who intend to commence a music or fine arts degree. Vacation work opportunities are also available. The Scholarship is not offered in 2003.

DJ Motors has provided this scholarship to support gifted Tasmanian musicians to progress their career.

This scholarship is provided from the estate of the last Elizabeth (Dora) Wade, who devoted her life to music education.

The late Sir Victor Burley was one of Tasmania's most celebrated engineers. A graduate of the University of Tasmania, he had a lifelong involvement in tertiary education in Tasmania and a passion for music. His family has endowed this scholarship to encourage the development of advanced music skills, especially in the classical music area.
