Discussion - accessing & posting

This guide demonstrates how you can navigate to your unit discussions, compose a new discussion thread and reply to a discussion thread within MyLO.

  1. From the MyLO Home page select your unit from the My Units widget.  This action will take you into your unit and onto your Unit Home page.

  2. Select the Discussions tool from the navbar under the Communication group.  This action will take you to the Discussions List.

  3. Select the Title of the Discussion Topic you wish to post to.  This action will open the discussion thread for the topic you selected.

  4. Select Start a New Thread to compose a new thread within the discussion topic.  This action will open the compose area above the discussion threads in the topic.

  5. Enter the title of your discussion thread into the Enter a subject field and type your message into the editor provided.  To receive notifications of further posts to the discussion thread, select the Subscribe to this thread checkbox.  Once you have composed your message thread, select the Post button.

  6. Your post will appear as a new thread in the discussion topics list.   To reply to a thread, select the title of the thread.   This action will open the View Thread page. Screen shot of the Discussions topics list with the new thread.
  7. Select the Reply to Thread button.   This action will open the compose area directly below the thread contents.

  8. Populate the Titlefield (if required) and type your message into the editor provided. To receive notifications of further posts to the discussion thread, select the Subscribe to this thread checkbox.   Once you have composed your reply, select the Post button.   9. Your message reply will appear in the discussion thread. To return to the Discussions list, select the Discussions List link in the breadcrumb navigation.

    1. Alternatively, you can expand the side panel to visit another discussion forum or topic.

    2. Or you can ensure the Discussion list pane is always open by changing your default Discussion Settings. Click on Settings when you are within Discussions.  Tick the option to Always show the Discussions List pane and Save.Choose Settings from within DiscussionsChange Personal settings to always show the Discussion List pane
