There will be a MyMedia Service outage on Friday 16th December from 10am to 6pm, and intermittent shorter outages over the week 19th December to 23rd December. All services provided by MyMedia will be unavailable during this time.

The MyMedia Service will undergo an upgrade from version 3 to version 4 over the outage period. This upgrade provides many benefits to staff and students including:

• EchoCenter Portal - The page used by both staff and students to access recordings for a whole unit.
  
• • Students will have access to better metadata about the recordings, including recording length, title and description.
    
  • Students also get access to bookmarks when using the streaming version of the recordings, and the interface is easier to navigate compared to 2011.
    
  • Staff will have access to statistics for their unit via this page, and also be able to see heatmaps for recordings. Heatmaps easily show staff which section of each recording was most popular for students.
• The Personal Capture Software tool used by staff to create recordings from their desktop will have pause and resume features in 2012.
• Teaching Assistant roles are introduced. Educational Technologists and other support staff can be allocated the Teaching Assistant role so they do not appear as a presenter for the unit.

There are many more benefits to be realised in 2012. We will communicate further in the new year!
