Rebecca Byfield reached a point where she knew she would need to upskill to keep moving up the corporate ladder.

As a marketing professional, the University of Tasmania’s Master of Marketing Management was exactly the qualification she needed to update her knowledge and progress her career.

“I think that it’s a really professional course. A lot of the lecturers have got really in-depth personal and professional knowledge of the industry, not just academic,” Rebecca said.

It has been a fantastic grounding in the marketing industry. I don’t think I would be as successful in my current role without it.

Because Rebecca already works in the industry, the ability to bring theory to life with real-world case studies was incredibly important.

I didn’t want to just come and have people that had ‘book knowledge’. I wanted them to have real life examples of how I could put that into practice on a day-to-day basis.

Real industry experience and knowledge of emerging trends in marketing is what she values most about her teachers.

The lecturers have got really in depth personal and professional knowledge of the industry, it’s not just academic.

“That, to somebody like me that’s a mature-age student, was really important. To be able to put the theory that I’m learning straight into practice.”

Here are Rebecca’s key reasons for recommending the Tasmanian School of Business and Economics

1. “The quality of the units and the teaching.”

2. “Being able to progress your career and get really up-to-date current knowledge that’s going to advance your career.”

3. “The location. Who can argue with Tasmania? It’s a brilliant location to study in.”
