Teaching Responsibilities
Janet has had recent experience with many Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Students (CALD) in teaching Bachelor of Nursing students in child & adolescent health, health promotion, behavioural sciences and nursing fundamentals, has also taught Graduate Entry students from CALD backgrounds, and has taught external Masters students in nursing development and leadership projects. Many of the leadership projects have been associated with nurses interest in undertaking leadership projects in the community.
Achievements
Janet is a registered nurse and midwife who has worked in higher education for 23 years as a nurse educator and a lecturer with expertise in child and family health and health promotion. She completed her PhD in 2001 on the topic: The Role of Families in Promoting Health Behaviours in Their Preschool Aged Children. Leadership has been an interest and commitment for Janet who was a past president of the professional nurses group - Australian Nurse Teachers Society (ANTS). Over the last five years she has published five (5) referred publications from her research about child and family health and the health promotion behaviours of paediatric and community nurses. She has also been involved with two authors in publishing one (1) book chapter: Locating the child, young person and family in contemporary health care. In M.Barnes, & J. Rowe. (Eds.).
