Judi is a paediatric qualified Registered Nurse, Play Therapist and Post Doctoral Research Fellow.
Dr Judi Parson has experienced a clinically diverse nursing career which has taken her across a number of Australian states and to the United Kingdom. She has practiced in various specialty fields including paediatrics, transplant care, aged care, and radiology.
In 2000 she moved into the tertiary education sector with Central Queensland University, where she completed her PhD which investigated the nurses use of integrating procedural play for children undergoing invasive treatment. Judi studied play therapy in London and continues to practice paediatric play therapy one day per week and is actively involved in developing play therapy in Australia.
Judi is now based in the North West and currently working on a number of research projects including an ethnographic study titled “Humanistic Expressions: Caring for a person with dementia”, the PoDFAR – (a Prospective cohort study of Diabetes-related Foot health in Australian Rural areas), and she is collating the ‘Access to North West Therapies’ database.
