The SNM is very pleased to be offering two new interdisciplinary courses for health professionals and one new stream within the Graduate Certificate in Nursing in 2012.
Graduate Certificate in Addiction Studies for Health Professionals
This 4-unit course is open to all health professionals working in the field of addiction. The units cover epidemiology, theories of substance abuse, treatment approaches, assessment, identification of co-occurring disorders and interventions. Students are expected to apply the unit content to their practice as part of the assessment for the unit.
Graduate Certificate in Flexible Learning and Simulation
This 4-unit course is also open to all health professionals and has been established in response to a request from SNM partners. Two of the units make up part of the Clinical Nursing and Teaching stream in the Graduate Certificate in Nursing and credit would be available for new students who have already completed these units. The two additional units encourage students to create and deliver innovative approaches to online and simulated learning.
General Practice stream within the Graduate Certificate in Nursing
This stream is for registered nurses working in general practice settings. One unit may also be undertaken by GP registrars. The 4-unit stream includes the following areas: systems in general practice, chronic and complex health management and advanced health assessment.
Applicants can apply from August 2011 for admission to study in 2012. Applicants who are employed by SNM partners may be eligible for a fee-free scholarship.
