Handmade Paper and Silk

School of Special Education, Burnie
UTAS Cradle Coast campus is pleased to host an exhibition of
colourful and textural works created by the students and staff of the
School of Special Education Burnie with Artist in Residence Jan Marinos, paper maker, textile artist and teacher.
Jan worked with School of Special Education students over a period of 13 weeks, providing an exploratory experience, engaging the senses by focusing on the elements of texture, form and colour.
The exhibition includes approximately 50 scarves along with sculpted and embossed artworks made from Creative Paper's Handmade Cotton Rag paper.

Narrating the area's residual tales of hope and despair, Remnant reveals the landscape and architecture of the Tasmanian midlands arranged in conflict together, the forgotten opulence of days gone by at odds with the starving terrain. |
