Questions?

Open Day is your chance to check out the University. Chat to students and staff, cruise around the grounds, buildings and social spaces, check out the facilities and generally get a feel for the vibe of the campus. Picture yourself being a student here and see how it feels!

Firstly, plan your day. Look at the program (PDF 3.2MB) or search for events online beforehand and see what presentations and activities you are interested in, what times they are on and where. From there, make sure you collect the brochures you need and ask lots of questions! Our staff and students will be there to talk to you about courses, how to apply and give you a sense of what university life is really like.

You can ask us anything you like, we are here to help, but here’s a list to get you started:

  • What exactly does the course cover?
  • What are the entry requirements for this course?
  • Are there any special requirements?
  • How many subjects will I have to do?
  • Do I have a choice of which subjects I can do?
  • How can I find out more about these subjects?
  • How are the subjects taught? (eg lecture, tutorials, practical sessions, online)?
  • How many hours of classes should I be expected to attend?
  • How many hours of extra study will I need to do?
  • How many classes are held each week?
  • Is the course accredited by a professional body?
  • What if I don’t have the right ATAR score?
  • What if I haven’t studied for a long time?
  • What help can I get with my study skills?
  • What costs are involved?
  • Are there any scholarships available in this study area?
  • Can I defer my place or take a year off during the course?
  • Can I transfer from one course or campus to another?
  • What sort of career(s) does this course lead to?
  • Where have other graduates found jobs?
  • Is there any help given by the University to find work after graduation?
  • What are my postgraduate study options?
  • What clubs and societies can I join?
  • What opportunities for sport are available?
  • What accommodation options are there?
  • What are the transport/parking options are there?
  • What kinds of student support services are provided?
  • Can I study abroad or do an overseas exchange during my course?

Check out our events page or download our program (PDF 3.2MB) which has all of the information about the presentations, tours, demonstrations and activities available to participate in on the day. Also don’t forget to check out the highlights we have on each campus and all of the fun and games from our clubs and societies, free entertainment and great food.

Check out our campus maps in the program (PDF 3.2MB). This will show you where the main activity hubs are and where information sessions are being held. We will have lots of signage on site which should point you in the right direction as well as our human signage. Our student ambassadors (look out for the big red lion on the t-shirt!) will be there to direct you to where you need to go.

We know you are busy, but that’s ok. If you want to have a chat about your study options, our amazing student advisors are available for one-on-one appointments any time.  Just call 1300 363 864 or email course.info@utas.edu.au to arrange a booking. We will also be recording our information sessions on the day. You can watch these via livestream or check them out any time after the event on our website.
