Do you have a passion for helping people and an interest in science? Then a career in pharmacy could be for you!
Pharmacists do so much more than dispense drugs, they improve the health and wellbeing of our community and strive to create a positive impact on people's lives.
In the UTAS Bachelor of Pharmacy degree you will learn how drugs are produced, study how medicines work in the body and are used in modern society, and learn how to work with other health professionals to make sure patients receive the best care.
The UTAS Bachelor of Pharmacy differs from other pharmacy degrees, as the time our students spend on work placements in pharmacies is one of the highest of all pharmacy degrees in Australia. These placements make sure students have plenty of time to put in practice what they learn in the class room*.
By working closely with pharmacists and other health professionals during their degree, our graduates are among Australia's best and enjoy a very high employment rate. We are proud of the pharmacists that graduate from UTAS.

Sam is a Pharmacist, Business Owner, Chemmart National Board Member, and a valued mentor to students at the School of Pharmacy, UTAS.
“People always need health, so Pharmacy is an essential profession; and that was why I made the move to Hobart to study a Bachelor of Pharmacy with UTAS. It offers a solid career path, a defined career with great employment opportunities and a decent salary.
Today I am very happy in my career. I am not only a Registered Pharmacist, but also a staff manager, small business owner, board member and a mentor. Pharmacy has given me much more than a career, it has provided me with opportunities I didn’t know existed. Previously, I would have suggested pharmacy to prospective students for its career stability and remuneration. But now I think it is the fact that I am helping people, and the majority of these people really appreciate what we can do for them that has made this such a fulfilling career.
Wining Pharmacy of the Year with my business partners at Chemmart Sorell has definitely been a career highlight for me. It was awarded based on our business and succession planning, as well as the large range of health services we offer, recognising my successes within two areas that I am really interested in, business and health. ”
