Dharmesh graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the K.B. Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research, Gujarat University (India) in 2010. After graduation, he completed his Masters in Pharmacy with specialization in Neuropharmacology at RTM Nagpur University (India) where his major research focus was on agmatine and neurodegenerative disorders.
Following graduation of his MPharm in May 2012, his keen research interest in neurodegenerative disorders have led him to continue research as a PhD Candidate at the School of Pharmacy, UTAS. He is being supervised by A/Prof Nuri Güven, Dr Glenn Jacobson and Dr Nikolaos Dietis and his current research is focussing on developing novel Idebenone analogue for treatment of Leber’s Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (LHON). His research expertise is behavioural and surgical pharmacology, especially in neurodegenerative disorders. His other research areas of interest are stress, neurotransmission and cognitive neurology.
