Weiyi graduated with a Bachelor of Pharmacy from the Faculty of Pharmacy at Guangdong Pharmaceutical University, China in 2008. She began working as a laboratory assistant at the Shantou Ganlanzhi Pharmaceutical Company, before deciding to to pursue further study.
Weiyi first came to the School of Pharmacy, UTAS to complete her Master of Pharmaceutical Science, graduating in 2011. From this, the opportunity to continue onto a Research Higher Degree was presented to her. Weiyi started her PhD in May 2012, her supervisors are Professor Gregory Peterson, Dr Ronald Castelino and Dr Rahul Patel, and her project is about improving metformin usage in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
