Congratulations to PhD student Corinne Mirkazemi for gaining a small but very encouraging few words in ‘The Australian’ earlier this year.
While it’s impressive enough getting your name in the Pharmacy eNews, Corinne has taken her achievements one step further, gaining a reference to her research in one of Australia’s biggest national newspapers.
As part of her honours work Corinne completed a project collaborating with Professor Greg Peterson, Dr Peter Tenni and Dr Shane Jackson researching the prevalence of B12 deficiency amongst the elderly in Tasmanian aged care facilities. The results were significant, identifying 14 percent of undiagnosed cases and 36 percent of borderline deficiencies in a study of 130 residents. The complete paper can be found in the Journal of Nutrition, Health & Ageing (16:277-80).
