Pharmacy Week is an initiative of the National Australian Pharmacy Students’ Association (NAPSA).
The Tasmanian Association of Pharmacy Students (TAPS) recently held a stall in a local Hobart shopping centre for Pharmacy Week 2009.
The stall was designed to provide health information to shoppers and to raise awareness of the profession and the Tasmanian students as the future of pharmacy. The Pharmaceutical Society of Australia (Tas Branch) gave much appreciated support for the event, providing pharmacists and PSA representatives for the duration.
Currently the Tasmanian Branch of PSA is running a smoking cessation campaign and this was incorporate as a main theme for the stall. The stall provided Quit packs, self-care fact cards and referrals to Quit services. The Pharmacy Week initiative was once again a huge success for Tasmania.
Pharmacy Week is the key event to promote the profession of pharmacy and our students directly to our local community and we encourage everyone to get behind their local NAPSA-affiliated branch for future pharmacy week events to ensure its ongoing success!
