The creation of an interactive software package that will support practical learning outcomes in pharmacy is currently in its last stages of development.
The software package aims to present students with a range of scenarios representative of a real-world community pharmacy setting and will be adaptable to enable teaching staff to address a broad range of themes.
A study comparing the performance, learning outcomes and attitudes of students doing their simulated scenario using the software package against that of students doing the same exercise using traditional paper-based/acted methods is planned to take place at the end of Semester 1, 2013. This will be the first trial evaluation of the software, measuring its practicality and utility in the learning environment.
