Honours Program and Enrolment

Students can enroll for full-time or part-time study, and at the beginning of either semester. Students complete 2 semesters of full-time study, or 4 semesters of part-time study, comprised of 4 coursework units and a 16,000 word dissertation on a topic of the student’s choice (in negotiation with their supervisor).

Full-time students must enrol in the ‘umbrella course' HPA400, four course-work units chosen from the list below, and HPA410 Dissertation. Students must choose two elective units for semester 1 and two for semester 2 (one of which must be the compulsory HPA420, which can only be enrolled in during semester 2).

Part-time students must enrol in the ‘umbrella course' HPA401 and will normally complete honours over four semesters. They are advised to complete their four course-work units in their first year, and devote themselves to their thesis in the second year (variations on this enrolment will have consequences for HECS and Centre-link payments, as you will be more and less than part-time at different stages of the degree).

Students enroll through Student Administration, but should also feel free to contact the Honours Convenor for details about the program and this can be done by calling the School Administrative Officer in Hobart on 6226 2255.
