details
Personal leadership is a desire for the individual to take charge of their own life. This highly practical unit falls under the interests of applied philosophy and ethics and provides a context for exploring and understanding
the concept of leadership and its implications for individual growth and creative development.

The focus is on developing exceptional leadership skills, effective cooperation and communication strategies
and the opportunity to enhance ethical and creative problem-solving abilities.

On completion participants should have developed
(1) an understanding of the key concepts and theories of leadership
(2) an understanding of the notion of ethical leadership and the concept of what it means to live a good life,
(3) a capacity for self reflection and self-awareness and an understanding of personal strengths and talents
(4) a capacity to apply this knowledge to personal leadership and career management
(5) enhanced networks with other highly motivated peers.

This unit can also form a key component of the University of Tasmania Leadership Award that recognises involvement by a participant in a wide range of extra-curricular activities, along with the development of an understanding of ethical leadership in the 21st Century.

WORKSHOP DETAILS
The workshop will take place at the Dechaineux lecture theatre and adjacent space in the School of Art at
Hunter Street, one of the iconic venues in the heart of Hobart on the waterfront providing access to the city centre and coffee shops, restaurants and bars nearby.

We envisage an intensive face-to-face five day workshop with plenty of time between sessions for reflection
and creative interaction of the participants. The five days will be divided into five morning and five afternoon sessions, with blocks from 9.30 to 12.30 and from 1.30 to 4.30, with optional time for groups after
the afternoon sessions.

ASSESSMENT

Participants will be required to undertake a short written analysis of ethical leadership theories, a series of reflections, attend presentations from community, government and business leaders, and take part in regular
group discussions.

Some reflections of progress and analysis of case studies etc. will be undertaken in creative groups. Some presentations will require preparation and creative engagement in session breaks and between workshop days. The workshop will explore creative assessment developments all in the spirit of creative leadership.
