I have a few projects that I am either trying to get off the ground or which are already up and running.
Some are for entertainment value and others have more serious purposes.

Please feel free to email me for more information or if you are interested in psi research hjenkins@utas.edu.au.

Check the 'psi' link to the right for more detailed information about psi and links to pages on psi research.

Connecting people interested in psi research

I am interested in gathering together an informal group of professional people who are interested in psi research.
It is hoped that this group can communicate (by email at first - and eventually meet up in person if the distances are not too great)
and share information and expertise in any area pertinent to psi research. If you are interested drop me a line at hjenkins@utas.edu.au

I have some grander plans to host a psi-themed interdisciplinary conference. I hope to have both speakers with experience in the area of psi research
and for the conference to be a forum for developing psi theory using expertise from various disciplines. More on this as it happens...

Course in parapsychology

I coordinate a unit for the AIPR course in parapsychology. The certificate program has only just started up this year (2006) and we are advertising for the first intake of students. It is run through the internet and hosted by the AIPR and administered by the Anomalistic Psychology Research Unit (attached to Adelaide University). The course is aimed at people who have an interest in the scientific exploration of parapsychology. If you are interested go to this link:

The subject I take is on philosophy of science and psi:

Psi research institute

Psi is still an area of academic inquiry that seems to elicit ridicule and laughter if not outrage and anger from the the mainstream academics
and funding bodies out there.
It is a difficult area for which to secure mainstream funding. Outside of a handful of parapsychology labs and institutes there are few academics working
in the area of psi research as their main occupation - it is just not a career option for most.

Consequently I hope to secure funding to set up an independent psi research institute in Australia. It sounds like a pipe dream I realise,
but I really believe that psi research is important and to engage with it and help develop psi theory we will need a group of dedicated
interdisciplinary professionals to work full-time in the area without fear of losing their jobs or risking reputations.

So, as crazy as it sounds, I am seeking a benevolent benefactor and mentor to help fund an institute dedicated to psi research.
I have some interesting ideas based on my research in philosophy to develop psi theory and application rather than replicate experiments.
I also have previous experience setting up a not-for-profit organisation so I know that it is possible to do so and the process that is required
to set it up properly.

If you are interested (and have the resources and incentive) drop me a line at hjenkins@utas.edu.au
and I'll send you a outline of my proposal for the institute.

For sure It is a wild card and will require someone with vision and courage to fund it. But if you are that rare person then don't stall, get in touch.
Stranger things have happened in the history of human investigation and this kind of venture could enter your name in the history books
for centuries to come.

Weird wide paranormal world

Psi is part of the weird and wonderful world of the paranormal. By proxy I have come to know a lot about aliens, crop circles and ghosts
(just for the record, this does not form part of my phd). For fun I co-host a show on community radio in Hobart, Australia
with another paradigmatically challenged person and together we look at the paranormal world from a wry perspective.

It is reassuring that amazingly weird stuff does happen out there though so for the Jinks and Dr Monty patented paranormal news bulletin
and special spookometre movie reviews (the only movie reviewers who give you the all important paranormal perspective!)
you can listen if you have broadband at http://www.ids.org.au/edgeradio/. The show airs on Saturdays at 12 noon Australian EST.
Remember though this is seriously for kicks only...
