Graduate Research Support Scheme
The School of Philosophy has agreed to set aside funds annually
to support graduate student participation in a research activity
that is not normally supported from other sources.
It may support, for example:
• travel expenses associated with fieldwork/library or archival
research;
• travel to conference to present a paper;
• special research training courses;
• acquisition of documents or data sets not otherwise available;
• the production of research instruments e.g. printing questionnaires;
• inter-library loans;
• art materials for special projects;
• travel to exhibition or performance of works.
• travel for other purposes (eg. to conduct interviews) will
be considered.
It will not defray the costs that all graduate students commonly
experience e.g. living costs, fees, or costs associated with thesis
production.
Funds will be made available on an individual competitive basis
to support graduate student participation in a research activity
that is not normally supported from other sources.
Research higher degree students are invited to make written competitive
bids for the funds on the application form provided. Reimbursement
of expenditure must be sought prior to 15 November annually. Late
applications will not be considered.
A grant may be awarded to cover only part of the cost of an activity,
up to a maximum grant of $2000.
Funding for travel to attend a conference is restricted to those
actively participating (eg. by giving a paper).
Funding will not normally be granted for the purchase of books or
items of equipment.
Only registered research higher degree students are eligible to
apply.
No student may receive more than one grant annually, and no part-time
student may receive more that one grant biennially.
