Mission Statement
To promote, facilitate and support innovative research and practice that draws upon or is directed towards 'place' as a central conceptual and methodological concept
To further the development of place research as a new interdisciplinary field of inquiry
To enable the nature and significance of place as a key concept across the humanities, arts and social sciences to be better understood and applied in both policy and practice.
Objectives
To improve interdisciplinary cooperation around the concept of place and provide support for the understanding of place as a key unifying theme across the Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences
To facilitate and improve communication and collaboration among individual researchers both within Australia and between Australia and overseas
To facilitate and improve communication and collaboration among place-oriented research projects, initiatives and organizations
To facilitate and improve cooperation and communication among place-oriented theoreticians and place oriented practitioners
To support and promote specific place-oriented research initiatives
To promote and support the understanding of place-related issues within the broader Australian, and international, community (including the Asian and South east Asian regions)
