I graduated with a Bachelor of Science majoring in Botany and Geography. During my time as an undergraduate, subjects like Ecology of Tasmania, Plant Ecology and Field Botany fuelled my interest in ecology. This led me to undertake an Honours program in Plant Science under the supervision of Mark Hovenden. This project looked at the effects of increasing temperatures on the treeline boundary and the associated impacts on alpine vegetation.
> Since graduation I have been employed by Norske Skog Paper Mills in Albury, NSW as an environmental graduate. In this position I have worked on waste and energy management strategies, environmental testing and reporting as well as learning about the paper making process. In my role as an environmental graduate I face many complex situations which are not directly related to my training, but what I learnt through my degree and Honours program at the University of Tasmania has given me the skills to deal with the many challenges I now face in my job.
