My main line of research is into auxin biosynthesis - discovering which pathway to the main plant growth hormone, auxin, is being used in a particular plant tissue. This involves both molecular genetic screening of genotypes for mutations in particular biosynthesis-related genes, and also a physico-chemical approach to measuring and manipulating auxin and its precursors.
