This study investigates the environmental factors which determine the distribution of the native pine Callitris columellaris.
Callitris columellaris is a native pine with a very widespread, though disjunct, distribution over much of mainland Australia. It is a valuable ecological indicator species, particularly of past fire regimes, and is regarded as a rainforest relict in the West MacDonnell Ranges.
A range of techniques including GIS analysis, modelling and stand structure analysis will be used to investigate the ecology of the species in the West MacDonnell Ranges, with the ultimate aim of determining:
