Sam Wood is throwing the landscape ecology toolbox at the ecosystems of southwest Tasmania.

He is using a range of techniques to investigate vegetation dynamics in the moorland-scrub-rainforest vegetation mosaics of Southwest Tasmania.

• Dendro-ecology to investigate the age of Old-Growth Eucalypts in Southern Forest
• Repeat Aerial Photography to investigate boundary dynamics in moorland-scrub-rainforests systems
• Carbon isotopes and AMS radiometric carbon dating to investigate boundary dynamics and nutrient accumulation in moorland-scrub-rainforests
• GIS analysis to investigate the importance of Topography on the distribution of vegetation communities over large scales.
