Buoyed by the enthusiastic reception of EucaFlip (a life-size guide to Tasmanian eucalypts), Rob Wiltshire and Greg Jordan (University of Tasmania) have moved on to provide an identification tool for most of the other tree species native to Tasmania. During the two years since the first printing of EucaFlip, customised educational kits were distributed free of charge to over one hundred Tasmanian schools that requested them. A second printing of the guide was required to meet demand.
The new TreeFlip follows the same layout as Eucaflip: a map-sized, laminated and easy-to-fold poster that illustrates the key diagnostic features of each tree species by using life-size photographs and distribution maps.
The new photo-guide was published in April 2009 by the School of Plant Science, University of Tasmania, and the CRC for Forestry. Copies are available to the public on a cost recovery basis (rrp. $9.95).
