Pat Brassington has been the Co-ordinator of the Plimsoll Gallery (formally the Tasmanian School of Art Gallery and the Centre for the Arts Gallery) since 1983. She has also been involved in numerous curatorial activities, most recently The Arresting Image in 2009, with Fiona Lee.
Pat is recognised as one of Australia’s leading photo-media artists. She studied photography and printmaking at the Tasmanian School of Art during the 1980s and was awarded a Master of Fine Arts degree in 1984. She has exhibited widely in Australia and overseas over two decades and her work is held in many public and private collections. Her work blurs the boundaries of the real and imagined, stripping photography of its authority, bestowing it instead with the logic of dream or fantasy.

Noel Frankham has been Professor of Art and Head of School, Tasmanian School of Art, University of Tasmania since February 2002 and was Deputy Dean, Faculty of Arts (2004). Previously he was Professor and Head of School with the South Australian School of Art, University of South Australia (June 1999 to January 2002). This followed four and a half years as Director of Object – Australian Centre for Craft and Design. Prior to Object Frankham was the Director of the Australia Council’s Visual Arts/Craft Board (1989 to 1994), which followed two and a half years as a project officer and then a program manager. Frankham was Extension Services Officer with the Queensland Art Gallery’s Education Section prior to joining the Australia Council. Frankham completed a Bachelor of Arts (Visual Arts – Photog.) TCAE, in 1981.

The gallery is managed by the Plimsoll Gallery Committee. Its key responsibility is the formulation of policies and overseeing the curated exhibition program which is supported by funding from Arts Tasmania and the University of Tasmania. Committee members initiate curatorial projects, assess external exhibition proposals, and assist with exhibition design, installation and demounting.
The Committee includes School of Art staff, postgraduate candidates and members from the broader Tasmanian arts community.
