Additional Information

Career summary

Dr. Richard Doyle has over 20 years research and teaching experience in Universities and private organizations in New Zealand, Africa and Australia. Richard is a Senior Lecturer in Soil Science specializing in soil formation, land evaluation, pesticides in soil and soil carbon dynamics. Within the School of Agricultural Science he coordinates and teaches three units. He has supervised/co-supervised 20 honours, 12 PhD and two Master's research project completions. In 2004 he won a Rotary International University Teacher Scholarship to teach soil science at the University of Namibia for one semester. Richard has been involved in research into the fate of pesticides in soils, soil carbon balances, rural tree decline, soil salinity (NHT), soil formation processes and various geoarchaeology projects. He completed both his Masters and PhD on geoarcheological projects in northern Greece.

Teaching Responsibilities

I lecture in topics including soil survey, soil formation, soil erosion, land evaluation, soil physics, soil mineralogy and soil chemistry.

I am Unit Coordinator and Lecturer for the following units:

  • KLA 213 - Soil formation, function and fertility
  • KLA 381 - Agricultural Landscape Systems
  • KLA 397 - Soil Science

I also supervise honours and postgraduate students in a range of topics.
