Career summary

Qualifications

INFORMATION REQUIRED: Qualifications, e.g. degrees, certifications. Include titles of thesis if available. Insert details of postgraduate degrees including the title, place of award and date of award, in order of highest degree to lowest.

Languages (other than English)

INFORMATION REQUIRED: A list or description of any languages other than English that you know/speak. This will be helpful in attracting international collaborators.

Biography

INFORMATION REQUIRED: Professional/career-oriented biographic content. Include past positions.

Research Themes

INFORMATION REQUIRED: The UTAS research theme/s to which your work relates. These are: Better Health; Creativity, Culture and Society; Marine, Antarctic and Maritime; Environment, Resources and Sustainability; and Data, Knowledge and Decisions. Describe the broad, over-arching research interest in a way that generally describes the research activity/projects that you & your group undertake, using the format provided in the example below. E.g. Joe's research aligns to the University's research theme of Better Health. His research interests include understanding how parasites and humans interact, the management of parasites and the management of parasitic disease, particularly in third world countries. Joe's research into bed bugs has spread to working with the NIH in the USA due to epidemics of the parasite infecting large parts of New York and other cities. These parasites are resistant to current treatment regimes and, as they can carry virulent diseases, an urgent remedy is required. Joe is also researching mosquito control in Africa and Asia to determine if different mechanisms of mosquito control can alter the spread of malaria. He is also working on understanding whether different herding mechanisms of cattle alter the distribution of the Tsetse fly, which is responsible for the spread of the notorious Sleeping sickness affecting millions of people worldwide.
