Her focus is on translation research that informs the development of novel, cost effective evidenced based interventions (mhealth) that can be broadly disseminated in the community. Areas of particular interest include research exploring the best ways to support carers of people with illness and disability, and modes of delivery that improve program dissemination and access, such as via work place settings and the internet.

Collaboration

Jenn's work has an international impact and been translated into Italian and Greek, and informed international collaboration with replication trials in USA and Germany, including a 6-year, multi-site trail in America funded by the National Cancer Institute.Internationally Prof Scott's clinical training programs arising from her research have been delivered in professional development and training workshops for psychology, nursing and allied health professionals in chronic illness and mental health settings in USA, Italy, Germany, Switzerland and the UK.

Publications

Prof Scott's research pioneered the field of couples and families research in cancer, and inspired social-coping based interventions for patients and their support persons facing other serious illnesses. She published the first international trial results for an intervention to assist couples coping with cancer. Jenn publishes in the field of translational research that identifies modifiable predictors of health behaviours, mental health or disease adjustment.  She reviews journal articles for high ranked journals in her field (e.g., Annals of Behavioural Medicine).

The ageing workforce and organisational health (2013)$18,182
Description
This PhD research project will for the first time assess and examine psychosocial predictors of WHS adherence on the levels of employees, team leaders, and the organisations these employees and team leaders work in. It will also for the first time examine the role of this multilevel structure in predicting individual employees adherence to WHS requirements and take into account the role ageing and attitudes towards ageing have in explaining individual WHS behaviours. In particular, the research aims to: examine the role of theory-based psychosocial predictors of individual WHS adherence (based in particular on the Theory of Planned Behaviour and the Precaution Adoption Process Model) taking into account the multilevel structure of organisations; examine the role of matches and mismatches between employees, team leaders, and organisations attitudes and cognitions around WHS in predicting WHS adherence; examine the role of individual attitudes towards ageing and team-level attitudes towards ageing in predicting adherence to WHS adherence.
