Professor Peter Wilson is Associate Dean Global Engagement and also an Adjunct Professor within the School of Science, Engineering and Technology at the University of Tasmania. During 2014 Peter was Associate Dean International for the Faculty of Health at University of Tasmania. Prior to this Peter worked for four years at the University of Tsukuba in Japan. Peter is currently a Visiting Professor at both University of California San Diego and University of Tsukuba.

Research Themes

Peter's research aligns well with both the themes of Antarctic and Maritime and Environment, Resources and Sustainability.  His research is involved with ice physics, with polar fishes and with methane hydrates. Specifically, Peter is interested in the liquid to solid transition and where the nucleation of supercooled solutions can be manipulated.  His work also involves superhydrophobic coatings and ice-phobic coatings.
