Projects

Expert Working Group on Benchmarks for Ecosystem Assessment under EBFM (2017)$881,620
Description
To support the implementation of practical ecosystem-based fisheries management, including: (1) the determination of reliable indicators of ecosystem structure and function; (2) robustness of the methods across levels of data availability; (3) appropriate reference points; and (4) the inclusion of these indicators in existing fisheries management regimes. This will cover support for both the theoretical underpinnings but also empirical application via engagement with local managers and modelling experts at case study locations.

Research Hub - Prediction and Management of Australia's Marine Biodiversity (2007 - 2010)$6,500,000
Description
The aim of this project is to provide sound advice to inform environmental public policy objectives and to better the management of Australia's unique environment. The research will be collaborative - involving multiple institutions, and other research partners and end-users- and to incorporate multiple disciplines. It will specifically support national world-class environmental research that does not qualify for assistance under existing programmes
