Cynthia Nixon is a current PhD candidate at the University of Tasmania. She has over 15 years of industry experience in the paper and energy sectors, with a focus on environmental management and business improvement. Cynthia has a Bachelor Degree in Environmental Engineering and a Masters in Environmental Law.
Cynthia is researching the influence of media and communications on transnational environmental campaigns using the Queensland based Adani Carmichael coal mine proposal as a case study. The project explores the interplay between activists, media, industry, and policy makers and questions whether mediatised environmental conflict impacts international relations and trade. This research is a part of the Australian Research Council Project DP150103454 ‘Transnational Environmental Campaigns in the Australia-Asian Region’.
