In addition to Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP), I also have an interest in academic staff development, higher and distance education, educational change and policy development; which were some of the areas studied during my PhD.

Career Summary

I am a Lecturer (Learning and Teaching) with the Tasmanian Institute of Learning and Teaching at the University of Tasmania. My current work and research are primarily focused on Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP) in higher education, more specifically issues related to learning, teaching and professional development. Previously, I was a Research Fellow with the Distance Education HUB (DEHub) at the University of New England.

This project will address the nationally significant issue of copyright and licensing for open educational practices (oeP) in Australlian higher education. Description
This project aims to design, develop and test a free, open and online professional development course about curriculum design. The course will focus specifically on developing the capacity of academics in Australia to adopt and incorporate Open Educational Resources (OER) and Open Educational Practices (OEP) into curriculum development for more effective and efficient learning and teaching across the Australian higher education sector. This course will be a micro Open Online Course (mOOC) where 'micro' refers to a sub-component of a full course.

Description
This project was investigated the state of play of Open Educational Resources (OER) in Australia. The key deliverable was to develop a Feasibility Protocol, which is an instrument aimed at assisting senior executives to make decisions regarding the adoption of OER and OEP, including the issues to consider regarding the opportunities, challenges and strategic directions involving OER.
