General Responsibilities

Career Summary

Starting as a health industry trainer in the UK, Jo then spent four years working in program development at Hong Kong Polytechnic before moving to Tasmania – originally to help support the development of the bachelor-level Nursing program, and later as instructional designer to a whole range of undergraduate courses from Accounting to Agriculture. In 1998 Jo took four years out to explore the real meaning of distance by working at the University of the South Pacific in Fiji (a wonderful experience!). Returning to Tasmania she worked as a freelance instructional designer, and later on a range of projects for undergraduate and postgraduate programs in Health Sciences at the University of Tasmania, where she developed and taught online Master's programs. Jo joined TILT in 2011 as an educational developer for the MyLO 2012 Project and now continues  to work with a range of projects and core activities to support teaching and teaching quality.

Professional Activities

Member of the Executive Committee of ODLAA (Open & Distance Learning Association of Australia) since 2011, with special responsibilities for professional development. Jo organises and presents an ongoing series of international webinars on topics of interest to providers of open and distance learning (see listed recordings)
