Regional Development Levy

Regional Development Levy

The Division of the Provost will use Levy-funded Regional Development Incentives to focus the allocation of resources to improving participation on the University's regional campuses.

Expected outcomes are:

  • sustainable growth in student load (demand) on regional campuses
  • expansion of the suite of units and course options available to students on regional campuses (increasing supply and thereby encouraging enrolments with UTAS).
  • novel approaches to stimulate access and participation.

The Regional Development Incentives will be offered in two categories:

1.    Regional Incentives Grants Scheme (RIGS)

The purpose of Regional Incentives Grants (RIGS) is to improve participation on the University's regional campuses.  RIGS seeks proposals that will catalyse, assist and embed Faculty and Institute growth plans and initiatives into sustainable models. There will be an annual call for applications.

2.    Regional Load Reward

When implemented, Regional Load Reward aims to provide Faculties and Institutes with additional funding for load delivered on the Cradle Coast and Launceston Campuses, where this is not the discipline's home campus. This will be calculated by dividing the total funding available by each Faculty/Institute's percentage of total EFTSL. There will be no weighting for course type.[1]

[1] This is not a multiplier applied to each FTE. The total funding pool is fixed and divided up amongst Faculties and Institutes according to their percentage of total load.
