Harmony Day celebrations aim to bring northern Tasmania's diverse range of communities together to celebrate and learn more about cultural, economic and social diversity. We are planning an enjoyable evening involving a welcome ceremony for newcomers, food and entertainment from around the world, activities for kids, such as; face painting, craft displays, exhibitions and much more.

The 2013 community Harmony Day celebrations will be held at the University of Tasmania's Newnham campus, on the grassed area between Sir Raymond Ferrall Centre and The Caf. on Friday 22nd March.

Highlights of Harmony Day Celebrations

• At 3.30pm there will be a soccer match between the Launi Allstars and a team of AMC international students. The game will be played on the UTAS soccer fields.
• At 5.30pm there will be a formal welcome ceremony hosted by the Mayor Albert Van Zetten and Prof Janelle Allison Pro-Vice Chancellor Regional Development. The ceremony will also include the trophy presentations for the soccer match.
  
• At 6pm the festivities will commence with amazing performances from the following - Chinese singing and dancing, Indian Tabla performance, Culture to Culture, Chinese Lute performance, Lion Dance, Bhutanese Folk Dancing, singing and dancing from the Pacific Islands, Liberian singing and much much more.

School Activities

To engage further with our local community in Launceston we will also be offering a range of activities for school groups from 12.30pm to 2.30pm on the 23rd March. Contact harmony.day@utas.edu.au for more information.
