Partnerships
UTAS at Launceston values the strong and meaningful partnerships it shares with key community organisations.
UTAS aims to ensure that partnerships are mutually beneficial and based on trust and open communication. Partners must develop awareness of partner goals, expectations and challenges and be prepared to work closely to provide solutions and opportunities.
For UTAS, engagement and partnerships have value when they fulfil a broad range of criteria:
- For students, engagement may encourage general participation in higher education, provide support and work integrated learning experience, scholarships, internships or part-time work.
- For staff, it may mean involvement in professional and community organisations, links to research and funding, industry experience and mentorship, venture capital funding and involvement in key regional development and strategic issues.
- For UTAS, effective engagement can help create pathways and communication between the academic and outside worlds. Greater interaction encourages ‘cross-pollination’ of ideas and challenges and grows relationships that add mutual capacity and capability.
While UTAS at Launceston has relationships with hundreds of community, business and cultural groups, it’s partnerships with the Launceston City Council and NRM North have been formalised by the development and commitment to Memorandums of Understanding (MOU).
