Northern Suburbs Social Enterprise Veggie and Fruit Boxes
13th May 2013
The aim of Northern Suburbs Community Centre is to provide a friendly, relaxed meeting place for all members of the community, and to ensure that all users of the centre have the opportunity to grow personally, socially and educationally in a safe, supportive environment. Building the community is a fundamental value that underpins all our activities.
One of the many initiatives of NSCC is the Peace Garden, a non-profit social enterprise. By using trading, training and employment pathways they support the community with fresh fruit and vegetable boxes, community lunches and garden/home maintenance. The Peace Garden partners with local community service providers – Anglicare, Tasmanian Polytechnic, Life Without Barriers, to provide training and employment opportunities to members of our community.
Veggie and fruit boxes are available to order for UTAS staff and students and are delivered to the campus fortnightly. See the flyer for more information.

Launceston MegaSwim
27th May 2013
On the 15 – 16th of June, post-graduate students, undergrad students, some colleagues of mine at the National Centre for Marine Conservation and Resource Sustainability (AMC, Science Building) will be taking part in a big fundraising event called "the Launceston MegaSwim"!
This event aims at raising money for the MS Society of Tasmania and our team will be swimming for the cause of multiple sclerosis during a whopping 24 hours! (relay style of course!)
If you would like to encourage us in our swimming feat, we would welcome any contribution, great or small, that you could make! All funds raised through this event will be used to help out Tasmanians living with multiple sclerosis.
