The role of the UTAS Quality Committee is to oversee and coordinate quality assurance and improvement activities University-wide. The Quality Committee provides an overall context within which quality assurance and improvement activities are carried out. The committee:
- coordinates and manages the design, implementation, monitoring and continual improvement of the UTAS Quality Framework;
- supports the achievement of the University’s strategic objectives by ensuring the widespread adoption and effective implementation of quality principles and processes as specified in the Quality Framework;
- facilitates the development and embedding of a culture of continual improvement;
- oversees preparation for any Australian Universities Quality Agency (AUQA) audit or other whole of organisation audit process and monitors the implementation of any recommendations, affirmations and/or other opportunities for improvement arising from such audits;
- advises the Academic Senate and the Senior Management Team on relevant internal and external benchmarks and other issues that can help determine appropriate academic and other quality standards;
- oversees the policy and process for reviews of organisational units, monitor progress in implementing associated action plans and advises the Academic Senate and the Senior Management Team of any issues arising from these reviews; and
- undertakes or commissions quality reviews, investigations and special projects in areas of importance to the University as they arise.
