Brain Activity in Young Adults during Performance of a Memory Task and a Target Detection Task: An ERP Study.

We are looking for males and females, aged 18 to 30 years old, with 1 st year Psychology students receiving 2 hours course credit for participation. Hobart campus only.

As a participant in this study you will be asked to perform two tasks. Electroencephalography (EEG) will be used to measure brain activity during the performance of the two tasks through the use of an electrode cap which will be placed on the head and connected to a computer. Four hanging electrodes will also be attached to the face to control for eye movements and two behind the ears. Responses to the tasks will simply involve pressing buttons on a response pad.

You will be required to complete four blocks of one task, which will go for approximately 5 minutes each, and one block of the other task, which will go for approximately 6 minutes. The first task, which takes approximately 20 minutes, is split into study and test phases. The testing session involving electrode cap preparation and performance of the two tasks will take approximately 2 hours.

The study aims to be finished by mid August
