Participants will be required to attend two sessions, approximately 1 hour each.
Session1: participants will be required to complete a series of questionnaires and will be interviewed for details about a neutral event (such as making a cup of tea), an interaction that they have had that was not considered stressful (either through the Internet or in person), and a cyberstalking/stalking incident.
Session 2: imagery scripts pertaining to each of the three events will be developed and read to the participant, who will be required to vividly imagine each event. During this session both psychophysiological and psychological responses will be recorded.
Individuals who have been subjected to either cyberstalking or stalking are invited to take part in this study. Participants will be assigned to a stalked or cyberstalked group based on the following criteria:
Stalked: individuals must have been subjected, on two or more occasions, to contact through being followed, receiving unwanted letters or intrusive approaches. These contacts must have been perceived as threatening and have evoked fear in the individual.
