To date, most trials of psychology interventions in oncology have been conducted with women. Couple-based interventions have been found to be very effective for enhancing adjustment in couples where the women have early stage cancer. However, no studies have reported the efficacy of couple-based interventions for people coping with advanced stage disease, nor for couples where the male has cancer.
