Costings Schedule
Purpose of the schedule
This schedule is designed to assist you in identifying the type of costs involved in your proposal and calculating their dollar value.
This schedule should be completed and submitted with your grant application.
Estimating costs - seek advice
The costs of educational projects - particularly technology-related or dependent projects - varies widely, and there are no useful formulae or benchmarks to guide you. Costs very much depend on:
- The scope of your project, which in turn will impact on
- The resources you will need (hardware, software, facilities etc), and whether these resources need to be purchased or hired
- The personnel you will need to successfully complete the project -
do you have the skills (and time), or do you need to develop them, or bring in those skills?
If you have not been involved in a similar project before, you are highly advised to talk to someone who has - teaching colleague in your school/faculty or outside faculty, school/faculty educational designer/developer/technologist, or a member of the teaching & learning team at the Centre for the Advancement of Learning and Teaching (who can probably also point you to a suitable contact). Also if at all possible, talk to people who have used the proposed technology - particularly before purchasing any hardware or software.
Noting this caveat, the following examples have some time estimates and requirements for a number of e-learning developmental activities.
