The contract sets out the nature of the work to be
done, the timeframe, costs and the agreed terms, such as who owns any
intellectual property. Without a contract, we do not have a basis on
which to invoice, and there is no agreement as to the nature of the work to be
done. All research/consultancy projects must have a contract.
A Private Consultancy is an arrangement for the provision, by any employee of the University for consultancy services undertaken in their private capacity. The University is not involved in the consultancy in any way.
All researchers undertaking private consultancies must complete a Statutory Declaration. Please contact firstname.lastname@example.org
During a Private Consultancy the CI must NOT:
Represent themselves as a UTAS employee.
Use University resources or infrastructure (including UTAS email and internet access, UTAS title, letterhead, crest, business cards or UTAS corporate systems.
Impinge on the normal University duties of the staff member.
Employees undertaking Private Consultancy activity are not covered by University insurances (personal liability insurance and indemnity insurance), are required to manage their own financial and tax implications and are not entitled to access UTAS ethics approval services.
