We want to ensure you have the skills to succeed in your research and beyond. That's why UTAS Research Degree candidates are automatically admitted to the Graduate Certificate in Research. The program contains two core units which will equip you with the skills to manage a Research Degree, providing training in topics such as academic writing, research ethics and commercialising research.
Completion of two units (MRes) or four units (most PhDs) of the Graduate Certificate in Research (GradCertRes) is mandatory for commencing Higher Degree by Research (HDR) candidates. This range of training activities and career development opportunities assist in developing high-level research, communication and management skills to give you the edge in employment opportunities upon completion of your degree.
Quantitative Marine Science (QMS), Quantitative Antarctic Science (QAS), and Professional Doctorate candidates are not required to undertake the Graduate Certificate in Research. Please see our Current Candidates website for information about the requirements for these programs.
