The Board is the main body of the Research College and under Ordinance 83 Research College Board its responsibilities are:
(a) to oversee the administration of research activity and of research training throughout the University;
(b) to provide advice to Academic Senate on matters relating to the implementation of research policy;
(c) to provide advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) on matters relating to research policy;
(d) to provide advice to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) on the allocation of research funding
The Board is comprised of:
- Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) Chair
- Dean of Graduate Research
- 3 experienced researchers elected by Academic Senate
- 3 experienced researchers appointed by the Vice-Chancellor
- 1 postgraduate research student nominated by the Tasmanian University Union Postgraduate Council
- 2 external members with experience of R&D appointed by the Vice-Chancellor
- Vice-Chancellor ex-officio
- Chair of Academic Senate ex-officio
