UTAS has over 60 research fellows, including many recipients of highly competitive Australian Competitive Grants awards.
Who are our research fellows, how did they get to where they are now, and what is their vision for UTAS' research culture?
Drawing on members of the Research Fellows Network from across the university, this forum will showcase some of UTAS' emerging research leaders and generate some lively conversations about opportunities, expectations, and obstacles to achieving world-leading research status.
Participants will include ARC Future Fellows, DECRA Fellows, and industry-sponsored postdoctoral fellows, each of whom have a unique research pathway and strong opinions on the role of research in the modern university setting.
Speakers include:
Chair: Prof Andrew Wells (PVC Research Strategy)
Dr Mark Hinder (DECRA, Psychology)
Professor Matt King (Future Fellow, Geography and Environmental Studies)
Dr Zanna Chase (Future Fellow, IMAS)
Professor Alison Venn (Menzies)
By focusing on a significant cross-institutional UTAS research community, the event will provide an opportunity both to acknowledge the nationally and internationally competitive work being undertaken by our researchers and to challenge the university to build a research environment conducive to such work.
This roundtable is facilitated by the Research Fellows Network established in 2011 by Professor Patrick Nixon, and currently chaired by Assoc Professor Anna Johnston (QEII Research Fellow, School of Humanities).
The session will conclude with drinks and nibbles.
UTAS Academics, Higher Degree Research Students and Research Administrators; Industry Partners including Government; Community Groups and Cultural Industries are invited to attend.
