The public lecture is to inspire current students interested in research or studying their Research Higher Degree.
Three of our successful young researchers at the Faculty of Health Science and Menzies Research Institute Tasmania will talk informally about their greatest achievements in research and any tips they've picked up along the way.
The aim of the event is to encourage and inspire budding researchers.
Speakers include:
Coordinator Clinical Masters of Nursing and Midwifery, Hobart Associate Dean Graduate Research
Dr Christine Stirling is a Senior Lecturer with the School of Nursing and Midwifery and Hobart Associate Dean Graduate Research. Christine has a career long interest in improving health care through workforce innovation and consumer research.
Senior Research Fellow, Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre
Dr Anna King is currently senior research fellow for the Wicking Dementia Research and Education Centre. She completed a degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry at Durham University in 1988 and then took a position as a research assitant at the Heart Research Institute in Sydney. She returned to study for a PhD in Neuroscience in 2004 following several years of parental duties.
Dr Magnussen's PhD and postdoctoral work to date has focused on the paediatric origin of adult cardiometabolic disease using data from an international consortium of population-based prospective cohort studies from Australia, Finland and the United States, known as the International Childhood Cardiovascular Cohort (i3C) Consortium.
Lunch will be provided. This session is for interested Higher Degree Researchers and Early Career Researchers.
